COMMON QUESTIONS

Common Questions

Will someone welcome me?

Yes.  We have people “on the door” for every service, so you will always find someone to welcome you.  They will be happy to give you any further help you need for your visit.

Incidentally, we have two entrances to the church.  On the right is the smaller arch-shaped entrance which leads to the back of the church.  On the left are glass doors which lead into a welcome lobby where you will find a lift and stairs, both of which lead to the front of the church.

We do not normally use the smaller arched door, apart from weddings or funerals, so you need to make your way to the white double glass doors for access. Sunday morning services are held in the main worship area upstairs.

Where can i sit?

Wisbech Baptist Church-insideThere are no assigned seats, though many attendees have their preferred spots they occupy each Sunday. You’re welcome to choose any available seat; however, it’s advisable to come early if you prefer seating at the back. The image depicts the primary area of worship.

will i need any money?

No is the short answer. There is nothing to pay when you come in and even when we pass a collection bag around during the service, we are happy for visitors to feel free to let the bag pass by. Please don’t feel you have to give us anything.

If, however, you would like to make a contribution to the work of Wisbech Baptist Church, then by all means put whatever you wish into the collection bag.

toilets & disabled facilites

We have male and female facilities on the ground floor as well as upstairs next to the main worship area.

We are used to parents taking their children out when we are upstairs during the Sunday morning service – the toilets are on the landing outside the door at the front.

Please note, however, we do not have proper baby changing facilities.  Instead the small school room behind the toilets has a carpeted floor as well as a sink, and can be used for this purpose.

Persons with difficulty walking should note that there are no steps when entering the church via the glass doors. Although our main worship area is upstairs, we have a spacious, modern lift accessible just inside the reception area.

will i have to join in?

During the service the congregation is involved in a variety of activities, but you should join in whatever you feel comfortable doing.

We’d like to think you’d feel able to join us if you know any of the hymns and songs we sing!  We use a mixture of the old and the new, so there should at least be the occasional familiar number.

You needn’t feel uncomfortable during the collections, either. See the link: “Will I need any money?”.

If you are a Christian, who has a real relationship with Jesus Christ, you are also welcome to join in the Communion service. During the service, we remain seated to receive the bread and wine.

If you are not a Christian, you are still welcome to stay and watch; we simply ask you to let the bread and wine pass by.
